| Update on WilliamIn last month's issue, we told you about William, a once successful and fully functional businessman who has been put into the mental health system against his will and overdrugged and abused for the last 30 years. The photo below shows a beaten and bruised William earlier this year.
Since the last newsletter, William has been in and out of the hospital trying to wean off of his medications, but with little success. We have found that the agenda of most psychiatrists in hospital mental wards is to keep patients dependent on drugs, subdued and compliant for the rest of their lives, rather than to heal patients and restore them to society as productive citizens. Miraculously, we have located one facility that is willing to detox William, and this is still in process as of this writing. Please pray for William to get admitted to this detox facility in order to successfully withdraw from his psychotropic drug addictions. Later in January, the hospital where William is currently staying will make the decision whether or not to transfer William to another facility. This facility is well known for treating patients who eventually die. So William's immediate transfer to the detox facility is crucial! William's friend has used Henry's case as a tragic example of the ineffectiveness of our nation's mental health system. Citing the dismal results of the July 22, 2003 report from the President's New Freedom Commission on Mental Health, which found America's mental health system to be "in shambles" and "broken," William's friend has approached President Bush in the hopes that he will begin the much-needed reform through faith-based programs that use safe, alternative treatments instead of mind-altering and brain-damaging psychotropics. Please pray for President Bush and his advisors to start reforms to ban patient drugging and begin safe faith-based programs of mental help. Please also pray for:
