Exposing Psychology, Exalting Christ August 2005 |
A reader recently wrote us, saying,
"The Lord has brought me from an unwanted, despised, rejected girl to a woman who has the privilege of communing with the Most High God of the Universe." What a privilege it is! The Apostle Paul exhorts us to commune with God in the book of Hebrews:"Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water." Hebrews 10:19-22, NKJV
Jesus' substitutionary sacrifice on the cross has opened the way for us into the very presence of God. He cleanses our hearts from sin and makes us accepted and righteous in God's sight. Our part is to "draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith." This reader did this, and proclaimed, "I have never been more at peace, than I am now." That's good mental health! You can view her letter below.

Should women take antidepressants for post-partum depression and other forms of depression? Dr. Ann Blake Tracy, SSRI antidepressant expert, and Mrs. Bonnie Leitsch warn, "[SSRI antidepressants] are extremely dangerous drugs that should have been banned... It is unconscionable that new mothers are being prescribed drugs that have been known to induce psychosis, violence and suicidality for more than a decade." This article cites numerous cases of women—including three diagnosed with post-partum depression—killing their own children while on antidepressants.

Hollywood actress Kelly Preston—wife of John Travolta—has come to Tom Cruise’s defense during interviews about her new Disney movie "Sky High." What you may not know is that Preston has spent years speaking out against the psychiatric drugging of children to different groups, including the U.S. Congress. In this informative article, Preston asks, "Would a parent subject their child to chemotherapy if there were no evidence of cancer cells? Would they take a doctor’s word for it that he could diagnose their child with cancer simply by asking the child some questions or observing his behavior? Yet parents are being told that their child has a mental "disease" and that they need to take dangerous and unproven drugs -- when there is no medical proof that anything is wrong with the child." Dr. Ann Blake Tracy’s International Coalition of Drug Awareness (ICDA) has responded to Pfizer’s Zoloft ad in Oprah Magazine with their own version of the Zoloft ad—a real version that we believe does the American public more justice than the happy Zoloft ball that has made Pfizer billions. Victims and their families will gather this August 24-26 for a rally in front of the White House to protest the FDA’s lack of integrity and action regarding antidepressants. 18 months ago, parents of children killed from antidepressants pleaded with the FDA to publicly disclose antidepressant dangers and even outlaw them completely, but little has been done. Here are snippets of true stories these now-childless parents told the FDA.

Are religious people less depressed than non-religious people? "Religion and Depressive Symptom Type," the second in a series of three Duke University studies presented here (for the first, see http://www.psychologydebunked.com/email0506_home.htm), found that depression symptoms are significantly fewer for religious patients with physical ailments, than for non-religious patients with physical ailments. This reader, a Christian from a very young age, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder at age 19. Now 27 and taking 1500mg of depakote and 300mg of wellbutrin every day, she, like most, believes her disorder is caused by "a firing problem in my brain causing an imbalance and irrational thinking." She asks, "Do you completely disprove of drugs? What are your thoughts on the spiritual and the physical?" See our answer.
