Reader Letter, 9/20/05

I spend a lifetime looking for answers and help in psychology, psychiatry, medication (lithium, depakote, prozac, lexapro), self-help books and groups, AA, NA, 12 steps, and rehabs. Been there, done it, got the Tee shirt! I was saved in 1994 and God started a process of healing and deliverance in my life from alcohol, drugs, eating disorders, so called "bipolar" disorder, etc… I remember going to "Christian" counselors that told me that I have a mood disorder and that I would greatly benefit from medication. Long story short, I am taking NO medication and I’m living a very productive and stable life.

I know that pride and unforgiveness play a big part [in bipolar behavior]. [In my service discussing bipolar disorder,] I plan on speaking about the new birth, new identity and the renewing of the mind. Also, I think of David in the Psalms. I think any doctors today would diagnose him as Bipolar! God is the God of the mountains and the valleys. One thing that David did was to invite and include God in his emotions whether he was up or down. He knew he was the only answer.
