8 Things You Need to Know...

Dear subscriber,

We have an exciting issue in store for you this month! Foremost, we analyze psychiatry’s claims that brain scans can be used to identify people with mental disorders like ADHD and depression. In addition to our comprehensive, must-read Q&A on brain scans, we include articles from experts in neuroimaging who take an honest look at the technology’s limitations. In our Q&A response, we make the biblical and scientific claim that the mind controls the brain, in contrast with psychiatry’s claim that the brain controls the mind. The Bible teaches that our mental and spiritual life controls our physical well being to a large extent (real physical disease excluded):

Psa 32:3 When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long.

Psa 38:3 [There is] no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither [is there any] rest in my bones because of my sin.

Pro 3:8 (The fear of the Lord) shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Pro 14:30 A sound heart [is] the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones.

Pro 16:24 Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Pro 17:22 A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Also in this month’s issue, expert witness Dr. Peter Breggin uncovers lies GlaxoSmithKline told the FDA about suicides caused by their SSRI antidepressant Paxil.

Finally, don’t miss the shocking study linking autism to mercury in children’s vaccines.

Autism linked to mercury in children’s vaccines, research shows

Autism—a mental disorder affecting children ages 3 and under and described by impaired language and social interaction and restrictive, repetitive behaviors—has been linked to thimerosal, a preservative used in childhood vaccines that contains the neurotoxin mercury. Researchers found that as the number of vaccines containing the preservative has decreased, so has the number of cases of neurodevelopmental disorders like Autism in children. But due to financial and political reasons, the CDC is doing little to fix the problem. Read this alarming article here.

GlaxoSmithKline lies to FDA about 4x higher suicide rate for adults using the antidepressant Paxil

Expert witness Dr. Peter Breggin spent 3 days at GlaxoSmithKline headquarters reviewing sealed files, and has just released his never-before-seen findings: the drug company under-reported to the FDA the number of suicide attempts on their antidepressant Paxil and over-reported the number of suicide attempts on placebo; hid from the FDA the drug’s stimulating effects that can lead to violence and suicide; and lied in promotional materials that the drug does not induce symptoms of anxiety and agitation. The truth? Paxil is almost 4 times as likely to cause suicide attempts as placebo. Read Dr. Peter Breggin’s full report—which will probably make major headlines and news shows in the weeks and months to come—here.

UK Study: Schizophrenics 20x more likely to attempt suicide if taking antipsychotic drugs than if not

Internationally recognized psychopharmacologist Dr. David Healy—the same doctor that publicized the link between suicide and antidepressants—has published a study in the UK showing patients diagnosed with schizophrenia are 20 times more likely to attempt suicide if they are treated with antipsychotics, versus if they are not given psychiatric drugs. This finding destroys the myth that schizophrenics need their medications to get better—the truth is, their medications typically make them worse. Read about this unique study here.

Researchers: Brain images confirm brain damage after schizophrenics take antipsychotic drugs

Journalist Robert Whitaker, author of Mad in America, describes a University of Pittsburgh study in the 1990s where brain images did the exact opposite of what psychiatry intends them to do. Instead of understanding how the brain can cause mental disorders, they saw how antipsychotic drugs caused brain damage, leading to mental problems! The researchers reviewed the brains of schizophrenics before drugs (“this is your brain”), then after 18 months of the drugs (“this is your brain on drugs”), and what did they find? A brain abnormality that worsened their symptoms! Read about the study here.

Q&A

This pastor asks us, “Is there any evidence to suggest that brain imaging reveals improperly functioning brains in the areas of depression, ADHD, psychosis, etc.?” We answer by reviewing common brain scan methods and identifying what these scans can show us, and what they cannot. This is a great overview of brain imaging suitable for forwarding to others.

Can Brain Scans See ADHD?

You’ve probably seen a brain scan in a magazine or TV show—a rainbow of colors showing blood flow through the brain. Psychiatry has tried to substantiate their biological determinism philosophy of mentality and behavior by claiming that brain scans can differentiate between those with mental illness and those who are healthy. Take for example ADHD. Some researchers have claimed that those children with ADHD have smaller brains than their healthy counterparts. But according to this article, this claim rests on faulty studies. In reality, those children with ADHD have smaller brains because of the drugs they are taking! Read the article here

http://www.psychologydebunked.com/email0603_brainscansadhd.htm

It is interesting to note that not one study has compared someone with ADHD and no prior medication to treat it, with a person not diagnosed with ADHD—because, in our opinion, that study would prove that the brains of ADHD and non-ADHD persons of similar age, size and weight look and act essentially the same. You won’t find the drug companies or their front groups like NAMI funding a study like this any time soon.

Can Brain Scans See Depression?

This New York Times article explains in laymen’s terms why brain scans cannot see depression or any other mental disorder like ADHD, bipolar, OCD, PTSD, etc. Brain scanning research has been going on for 30 years, and still no lab test using brain imaging exists to identify mental illness.

See neurologist Dr. Fred Baughman’s straight-shooting, passionate, paragraph-by-paragraph response to this article--his comments shed even more light on the deceptiveness and fraudulence of the biological model of psychiatry: http://www.psychologydebunked.com/email0603_baughmanresponse.htm

Neural Science Director: Brain scans tell us nothing more than a 19th century neurologist would

This New York Times article explains why brain scans tell us nothing more about human behavior than what we’ve already learned from neurologists of the 1800s about the functions of different areas of the brain. They just look better...

Letters

This reader, exhausted and burdened, broke down crying at a church service and went to the foyer to avoid disturbing others. The next day, she received a call from an associate pastor at her church. This is what he said…
