Dear subscriber,
We dedicate this month’s issue to my mother Judy, who passed away on April 2nd.
I'll remember my mom for her wonderful marriage and her love for her family. My parents loved each other deeply. After thirty-nine years of marriage, they still acted like newlyweds. They were crazy for each other, and they did everything together—romantic walks, scenic drives, cooking, even gardening. Mom and Dad were an inseparable team—a shining example of what a marriage should be.
My mom loved her children, her son-in-law, and her grandchildren. She took her role as a mother very seriously, and constantly denied herself to give us a good life. She treated Ryan like one of her own, and would always look forward to talking to my girls. The girls would make her so happy. They already miss hearing grandma's voice every weekend.
Her passing was extremely peaceful, with family by her side. The nurses commented that the peace in that room was unlike anything they had ever felt in all their years of nursing, as ministering angels were taking my mom home. I miss her greatly, but am thankful that I will see her again in heaven, along with the baby I miscarried one year ago.
Jhn 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
1Cr 15:54 Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Knowing my mom is saved, not feeling the sting of death, and at peace in her mansion in heaven helps me get through this difficult time, as I also prepare to give birth to our third child any day now. Please pray for me, and please also pray for my dad and brother, that God would be near to them and make His presence known to them.
In this month's issue, we share a news story making major headlines last week—that psychiatry’s bible, the DSM, is authored primarily by doctors with financial ties to drug companies. Also in the news: New Jersey creates a law mandating mental health screening for postpartum depression.
Finally, don’t miss this month’s Q&A on Asperger’s Disorder.
In Jesus’ saving name,

Study: Most DSM Authors Have Undisclosed Financial Ties to the Drug Industry |
Results of a study by Lisa Cosgrove, Univ. of Mass. psychologist and Sheldon Krimsky, Tuft University professor, show over half of the authors of psychiatry’s bible of mental disorders, the DSM, have undisclosed ties to the drug industry. Fully 100 percent of the expert panelists for mood disorders (e.g. depression) and psychotic disorders (e.g. schizophrenia) have financial ties to drug companies. Is it any coincidence that the drugs treating these disorders are the top-selling psychiatric drugs, grossing $20 billion and $14 billion, respectively? This study provides further proof that the DSM is driven more by business interests than scientific ones. Historically, some disorders have been modified or removed from the DSM based solely on a drug company’s ability to treat them. Criteria for other disorders can be made purposefully broad, to provide the largest market possible for drug sales. A true medical manual would strive to present objective, medical information to practitioners based on science, without industry influence. But the DSM, with its lists of subjective behaviors grouped into labels, serves the psychiatric and drug industries at the expense of true science. See major news media stories linked at AHRP here.

New Jersey Mandates Mental Health Screening for Postpartum Depression |
New Jersey governor Jon Corzine has just passed a law—the first of its kind—requiring health care providers to screen new mothers for postpartum depression and teach women and their families about the disorder. “This new law will make postpartum depression screening a requirement rather than an option, and that's a significant and positive step for New Jersey's mothers, newborns and families," Corzine said. The governor said the law will improve the likelihood that women suffering from the disorder would get the appropriate treatment (read antidepressants). But instead of helping mothers, newborns, and their families, the governor is putting 1 out of 8 (11,000 – 16,000) mothers and their newborns at risk by forcing treatment of a hormonal condition with a mind-altering drug that has caused mothers to enter a state of psychosis and kill their children. Prediction: New Jersey Will Be a Breeding Ground for Murders of Newborns |
Six months from now, when mandatory postpartum depression screening launches in New Jersey doctors offices, we will start to see a rise in newborn murder cases across the state. The FDA has already warned the public that antidepressants can cause suicidal and homicidal thoughts and behavior in children and adults on the drugs. Forced screening, which leads to antidepressant prescriptions, will cause more unnecessary, violent and tragic deaths of innocent children at the hands of their mothers. Why do we predict this? Because the track record of new moms killing their children while on antidepressants speaks for itself.

PharmaAmorin, developed by Pfizer, treats the chronic distrust of large prescription-drug manufacturers. This insidious disorder is now plaguing millions across the globe, including yours truly. Before psychology and psychiatry, the primary institution responsible for soul treatment and guidance in life was the church. Today, psychology and psychiatry have displaced the church as the source for answers and guidance. Worse, the church has imported the philosophies and teachings of psychology and psychiatry, thinking these worldly systems of soul treatment offer a better, more scientific alternative than a simple relationship with Jesus Christ and His Word. Jesus now stands outside the door of the hearts of many psychologized churches and individual Christians, knocking patiently (Rev. 3:20). Will we let Him in, and push the worldly out? Or will we continue in a psychologized faith until He spits us out of His mouth (Rev. 3:16)? This reader’s poem reminded us of the terrible times in which we live, when men would be lovers of themselves; lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God (2 Tim. 3:2). Read it here.

Lately, a few readers have asked us about Asperger’s Disorder. A reader asks, “What is this syndrome? Is there any truth to the label of this being called a real disease?” See our response here.

This reader sees psychology catering to the flesh, and describes the tendency for today’s church to use methods that please the flesh rather than feed the Spirit. He concludes, “The cross of Christ is the way to salvation AND the power unto sanctification. The same power that saved us will sanctify us. But only if we walk in the Spirit.” Read his powerful, Christ-centered letter here.
