Dear Friend,
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done." Those seven little words of Jesus, practiced moment-by-moment, can revolutionize the life of a Christian. But in reality, so often our flesh cries out, "My kingdom come. My will be done." And we hold on to control of our lives with an iron grip of determined self-will until we get our way. Sure, we may get what we want, but is that what Jesus wants for us, and is that what is best for our eternity, when we arrive in HIS kingdom?
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.
God has been gently reminding us lately that it's not about this kingdom and this life; it's about the NEXT kingdom and the NEXT life! It's not about asking God to give me what I want; it's about trusting God's will for me and making sure I am aligning my will to match what HE wants. When our perspective changes to God's kingdom and God's will, suddenly our lives get a whole lot better--maybe not always circumstantially, but definitely mentally and spiritually.
This month we look at the "let my kingdom come, let my will be done" motto of psychology taken to the extreme, by examining the diagnosis of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) both psychologically and biblically. We also include part 2 of Ralph Dettwiler's Be Sober series--don't miss this one, packed full of myth-shattering quotes from doctors about disorders and drugs.
In the news... more school shootings, three new wonder drugs and why you shouldn't trust them, and 400,000 New York kids get screened as potential drug customers.
For HIS Kingdom,
Lisa and Ryan Bazler

Web Page links hundreds of violent acts with psychiatric drug use |
School shootings have become as common as the weather report on the news these days, with the latest victim, 15-year-old James Alenson, stabbed to death on January 19th at a high school near Boston, Mass. by 16-year-old John Odgren (see http://www.telegram.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070120/NEWS/701200360/0/FRONTPAGE). So common, in fact, that researching, tracking and recording them would be a full-time job. Fortunately, two people from the International Coalition for Drug Awareness (www.drugawareness.org) have taken on this job and compiled the most comprehensive list of psychiatric drug-related violent acts we've seen to date. Perhaps most disturbing: sorting the list by date and viewing the last few years shows that almost every single day, someone commits a fatal shooting, stabbing, drowning, hanging, or suffocating while on a psychiatric drug. You'll need to see it to believe it:

Reconcile for anxious dogs, Havidol for DSACDAD, and Paxil for Hypochondria - are they serious? |
Three new drugs will soon hit the streets thanks to disease-mongering drug companies and their joined-at-the-hip psychiatrist brigade. Can you guess which one is bogus?
Reconcile promises to help dogs cope with the anxiety of being separated from their owners (separation anxiety). Side effects of Reconcile include "loss or decrease of appetite, weight loss, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, shaking and shivering, disorientation and seizures. We wonder if dogs will start killing each other on this antidepressant-like drug...

Havidol treats Dysphoric Social Attention Consumption Deficit Anxiety Disorder (DSACDAD), a new disorder characterized by "worrying about life, feeling tense, restless, or fatigued, being concerned about their weight, noticing signs of aging, feeling stress at work, home, or finding activities they used to enjoy, like shopping, challenging." According to the official site http://www.havidol.com/, side effects may include "mood changes, muscle strain, extraordinary thinking, dermal gloss, impulsivity induced consumption, excessive salivation, hair growth, markedly delayed sexual climax, inter-species communication, taste perversion, terminal smile, and oral inflammation." Havidol's inventor is stunned by the growing popularity of the DSACDAD disorder and the drug that treats it...

Paxil can now be used to treat hypochondriacs. That's right--those who fear being sick can now rest assured that they really are! But not to worry--our friends at GlaxoSmithKline have the cure for this disease in none other than the antidepressant Paxil, which they claim is effective in reducing the fear of being sick. Ironically, hypochondriacs will end up truly sick on this drug, as they battle brutal side effects and the potential desire to kill themselves and others...

Psychiatrist and expert witness David Healy: "Why You Should Never Trust New Wonder Drugs" |
Court cases have made previously confidential internal drug company correspondence public information, exposing hidden truths about their drugs' safety and effectiveness. The latest of these cases exposed the UK's GlaxoSmithKline for hiding the sevenfold increase in risk of suicidal and violent behavior in children taking Seroxat (Paxil) from the FDA, doctors and the general public. Panorama states, "Secret e-mails reveal that the UK's biggest drug company distorted trial results of an anti-depressant, covering up a link with suicide in teenagers. Panorama reveals that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) attempted to show that Seroxat worked for depressed children despite failed clinical trials. And that GSK-employed ghostwriters influenced 'independent' academics." See full story at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6308871.stm.
David Healy has seen much confidential drug company data in his years as a psychiatrist, expert witness and professor, and makes a strong case why we should never trust new wonder drugs from pharmaceutical companies. He states, "Until the 1980s, [clinical trials] were run in universities. Independent academics did the research and published the results. But for the past 20 years the drug firms themselves have increasingly run trials." He calls drug trials "marketing exercises," rather than "tools for scientific research." Read his article here:

Start Spreadin' the News: Mental Health Screening hits New York; 400,000 students now being screened |
TeenScreen, Big Pharma's key revenue generator for student populations across America, has hit Cortland County, New York, and is now being used to screen the mental health of 400,000 sixth and ninth graders in the state. Send the links below to warn others of this insidious method of screening and labeling normal children, which inevitably leads to drugging and harm:

Ralph Dettwiler, whose biblically-based article on cutting was featured in a prior newsletter (see http://www.psychologydebunked.com/email0602_Q&A.htm), has written three excellent articles on the subject of antidepressants. This month, we feature Part 2 of Be Sober, where Ralph quotes from authoritative sources (doctors, psychiatrists, etc.) about the common fallacies of mental diseases and the drugs that treat them. Ralph states, "I encourage you to read the quotes I have in this article and if you are like me you will get angry about what is going on..." Read the quotes here:

This Christian reader on court-ordered lithium injections describes his struggle with what he believes is not mental health treatment, but rather pharmakia, or sorcery--described in Galatians 5 as a work of the flesh. He sees psychiatric drugs as no different than alcohol, sexual immorality, illegal drugs, or any other work of the flesh--it's all sin that feeds the carnal nature and starves the Spirit.
