Dear Friend, Welcome to the November issue of the Psychology Debunked newsletter. As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, we realize how important the mind is in our daily walk with God. The Bible declares that we have the mind of Christ, which is a sound mind: | 1Cr 2:16 | | For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. |
| Phl 2:5 | | Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: |
| 2Ti 1:7 | | For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. |
Jesus encourages us to love God with all our mind: | Mat 22:37 | | Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. |
But our mind battles with the flesh, the world, and the devil: | Rom 7:23 | | But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. |
| Rom 12:2 | | And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. |
| 2Cr 10:5 | | Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; |
So the Apostles Paul and Peter encourage us to renew and gird up (strengthen) our minds, remain sober (clear-headed), and focus on the true, good, and positive aspects of life: | Eph 4:23 | | And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; |
| 1Pe 1:13 | | Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; |
| Phl 4:8 | | Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things. |
May this Thanksgiving be a time of renewing our mind to conform to the mind of Christ. The very thought that God can transform our fallen minds in this way is cause for much thanksgiving! In this packed issue, a must-hear interview with Dr. Ed Bulkley about psychology and the Christian; antipsychotic drugs for children and the elderly; the shocking origins of many hardcore street drugs; ways to have the mind of Christ; and testimony from an Australian ex-psychologist who abandoned his "religion" of psychology for the sake of truth. Also, don't miss the many new CDs being offered through this ministry. They will inform and encourage you. In the mind of Christ, Lisa and Ryan Bazler
Why Christians Can't Trust Psychology Brannon Howse interviews Dr. Ed Bulkley, President of IABC and author of Why Christians Cant Trust Psychology. Dr. Bulkley explains how secular psychology often denies the soul, free-will, personal responsibility and sin. Are many of today's psychological problems really spiritual problems that are being "supressed" with medication? Dr. Bulkley also covers ADD, ADHD other such "disorders" that are used to excuse what is often a lack of self-control, discipline and rebellion. Also hear the testimony of many callers on this topic. Finland teen who used antidepressants kills eight and self at school The school massacres continue worldwide as 18-year-old Pekka-Eric Auvinen shoots and kills six students, the Jokela School Centre principal and the school nurse before turning the gun on himself on November 7, 2007. A day after the shootings took place, before censorship by big pharma, the Wikipedia site stated: "He is reported to have uploaded a home-made movie to YouTube announcing the "massacre" hours prior to the shooting.[10] His profile featured several movies regarding an ongoing depression and unsuccessful treatment with SSRIs." more » As bipolar disorder becomes profitable, we see more of it... says clinical psychologist Dr. Bruce Levine, author of Surviving America's Depression Epidemic: How to Find Morale, Energy, and Community in a World Gone Crazy, about the $11 billion market for antipsychotics and its fastest growest segment, children. In this well-researched article, he states, "Not too long ago, a child who was irritable, moody, and distractible and who at times sounded grandiose or acted without regard for consequences was considered a "handful." In the U.S. by the 1980s, that child was labeled with a "behavioral disorder" and today that child is being diagnosed as "bipolar" and "psychotic"--and prescribed expensive antipsychotic drugs." more » Antipsychotic drugs killing the elderly at alarming rates One in four nursing home residents take antipsychotic drugs like Zyprexa, Risperdal and Seroquel to treat dementia. The fact that these drugs cause life-threatening diabetes and suicidal thoughts, and have never been approved to treat dementia, doesn't stop the legal drug pushers from administering these chemical restraints upon their defenseless residents and pocketing $13 billion in revenue for this age group. Testifying at a congressional hearing, FDA drug safety expert Dr. David Graham warned, "you have probably got 15,000 elderly people in nursing homes dying each year from the off-label use of antipsychotic medications… With every pill that gets dispensed in a nursing home, the drug company is laughing all the way to the bank." more » Patients come forward with Zyprexa suicide complaints This legal site has “received many emails from frustrated patients who say taking Zyprexa completely altered their personality and resulted in suicide attempts. We have also heard from family members of patients who committed suicide. These family members all say that their loved ones changed drastically for the worse after they started taking Zyprexa. One patient who wrote to the website noted that he attempted suicide after only two weeks of taking Zyprexa.” You can report cases of suicide attempts to lawyers at this site who are planning a lawsuit against Eli Lilly, maker of Zyprexa, for non-disclosure of risks. more » LSD - the next breakthrough in psychiatric treatment? Sound crazy? Perhaps today, but not in the 1930s, when Sandoz Labs, a subsidiary of drug company giant Novartis, introduced the world to Delysid, aka LSD 25. A 1962 study suggested treating schizophrenic children with LSD-25, citing "improved behavior patterns" and claiming "the children were generally happier; their mood was 'high' in the hours following ingestion of the drug... The physicians further note that the children appeared flushed and bright eyed, and unusually interested in their environment." more » Big Pharma's role in creating and marketing heroin, LSD, meth, ecstacy and speed
Why do Americans shun street drugs but embrace prescription drugs, when both have essentially the same mind-altering effects? Doctors, drug ads, and legal use all add an aura of legitimacy around what amounts to be street drugs wrapped in scientific packaging and sold to the white collar consumer. Did you know many of today's illegal street drugs were invented by the same drug companies selling the antidepressants, antipsychotics and stimulants? This Mike Adams article lists seven facts connecting illegal drugs and big pharma. LSD was born in a drug company lab, used by psychiatry, and then eventually outlawed. Today's psychiatric drugs could and should suffer the same fate! Pharmakeia part 1 Should a Christian use medicinal drugs that may affect the mind? Part 1 of our biblical studies in pharmakeia includes this pastoral article that answers this question and wisely differentiates between medical drugs and mind-altering drugs. more » Q&A This reader asks, "Apart from prayer, how can the mind be changed to think positively?" See our answer, including commentary on the latest phenomenon of The Secret, here. Letters This doctor, an Australian ex-psychologist and hypnotist, shares, "I repented of that religion [of psychology] and left the profession... I was profoundly dissatisfied with the discipline of psychology and convicted that it was antichristian. I was a voice in the wilderness until I read your book... Criticising psychology is a bit like insulting a sacred cow. You can denigrate almost any fundamental Christian doctrine with an audience of indifference, but watch out if you dare speak against psychology....it will be most zealously defended." more » New Psychology Debunked CDs Available Now!
