Reader Letter
11/18/07:
Dear Lisa & Ryan, Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am only halfway through your book Psychology debunked, and I am most excited and encouraged at what I read. The book is beautifully written and very clear and logical in the presentation of ideas. It is a powerful and persuasive composition. As an ex psychologist with post grad qualifications in hypnosis, I repented of that religion and left the profession to start a manufacturing company a good while ago. I was profoundly dissatisfied with the discipline of psychology and convicted that it was antichristian. I was a voice in the wilderness until I read your book. I was thankful to discover that I was not alone in my concerns. Criticising psychology is a bit like insulting a sacred cow. You can denigrate almost any fundamental Christian doctrine with an audience of indifference, but watch out if you dare speak against psychology....it will be most zealously defended. Recently we had a visitor to our cell group - an American, Herman Riffel. Herman had written several books on interpreting dreams and he was very influential upon the group. I recognised the basis of Herman's theses and they were decidedly Jungian. I started to research the life of Jung and was deeply shocked at the Satanic engagement of much of his life story. Involvement in spiritism, occult, alchemy, family history of séances, using mediums spirit guides etc and so on. I now have the task of taking this material back to the cell group and challenging the teachings given by Herman as not just unbiblical, but as being firmly based upon antichristian ideas. Cell group leaders are deeply involved in 'Christian psychology', which they call theosophy, so I think my challenge will evoke some hostility. As a follow up to your book , may I suggest another? A book which goes deeply into an examination of the lives of key psychologists, their beliefs, their attitude toward Christ and their personal conduct. From what I have gleaned of Freud, Jung and people like Kinsey, they are all more or less antichrists. Most of the other fathers of psychology are more subtle but base their beliefs on a rejection of God and an indifference to Christ. I think it is important to establish a case that the founders of psychology were deeply hostile to the tenets of Christianity. I would like you to be encouraged in your ministry of truth to the church. The incorporation of psychology into the church is a monstrous sin and goes unrecognised and unchallenged. SO your work of revealing the problem is of immense importance and value to the Kingdom of God. Please be encouraged in your work and know that your God appointed ministry will arouse much opposition. God is surely well pleased with your endeavours. Take courage and please let me know if you have any other publications or material, since I am motivated to speak out myself using your book as a resource. May God richly bless you both.
