Dear Friend, Welcome to the February 2008 issue of the Psychology Debunked newsletter! For those of you facing this year's snows, storms and tornados, may you get an extra dose of God's grace and strength!
With Israel's "dry bones" living again since 1948, all the signs of the times the Bible has predicted for the last days of earth are coming to pass, including society's extreme pre-occupation with self, money and pleasure:
| 2Ti 3:1 | BUT know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: | | 2Ti 3:2 | For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, | | 2Ti 3:3 | unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, | | 2Ti 3:4 | traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, | | 2Ti 3:5 | having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! |
Only in an environment of selfishness, greed and pleasure-seeking can something as wicked as the legal drug industry prosper, and it continues to prosper unabated even as the death tolls rise. Issue highlights: - Northern Illinois University shooter on psych drugs
- FDA warnings on mood stabilizers, and findings that antidepressants are useless
- Lobotomies 101
- The biblical roles of husband and wife
Enjoy! Yours in Christ, Lisa and Ryan Bazler
NIU shooter had been taking psych drug cocktail Stephen Kazmierczak, the Northern Illinois University shooter who gunned down five students in a classroom before killing himself, had been taking three psychiatric drugs prior to the shooting--Prozac (antidepressant), Xanax (antianxiety), and Ambien (sleeping pill)--according to the Chicago Tribune. The mainstream media gives the simple explanation that he shouldn't have stopped his meds, which is only half the story. Shooting after shooting should teach us otherwise: he should have never taken them in the first place. Don't we remember how the FDA has warned about increased suicidal and violent behavior in those taking or withdrawing from antidepressants? Shouldn't we ask ourselves why this shooting epidemic is only getting worse, with four school shootings all in a single week*? We've had mental problems for thousands of years, and guns for hundreds. Why didn't we have the mass murders and suicides then, that we do now? Because Big Pharma didn't exist yet. Half the population wasn't taking a prescription drug, whose mind-altering effects break down defenses against powerful influences beyond our control. Instead of blaming "mental illness" and non-compliance to drug treatments, we need to place responsibility on the legal drug racket ruining our country. It's time for us to wake up and get sober! View YouTube FOX news clip on the shooting * On Feb. 8, a woman shot two fellow students to death before committing suicide at Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge. In Memphis, Tenn., a 17-year-old is accused of shooting and critically wounding a fellow student Monday during a high school gym class. The 15-year-old victim of a shooting at an Oxnard, Calif., junior high school has been declared brain dead. FDA: mood stabilizers have 2x risk of suicide The FDA has just announced that anti-convulsant / anti-epileptic drugs (commonly called "mood stabilizers") given to treat epilepsy, anxiety, bipolar or side effects of other drugs, carry twice the risk of suicidal thoughts and behaviors than placebo. These drugs include Neurontin, Depakote/Depakene, Topamax, Lamictal, Lyrica, Tegretol, Trileptal, and four others. more » Surprise! FDA admits antidepressants don't work Almost 20 years after the first SSRI antidepressant hit the market, the FDA is finally admitting what it knew all along: SSRI antidepressants are not measurably better than placebo. After forcing drug companies to provide all drug trial results rather than just the ones that "showed" the best, the FDA found that just 51% of drug trials produced positive drug results; the other 49% were negative. Compare this to the 94% of drug trials in published journals showing positive results--the same journals doctors read to educate themselves and their patients. The biggest offenders? Bristol Myers-Squibb's Serzone, Pfizer's Zoloft, Schering Plough's Remeron, and GlaxoSmithKline's Wellbutrin SR and Paxil. more » Who could have ever imagined that a multi-billion dollar industry that penetrates every aspect of our society would be built on useless drugs to treat concocted chemical imbalances said to cause invented mental disorders. We've been deceived. Prescription drugs cause 10x more deaths than illegal ones, says JAMA report Actor Heath Ledger's highly publicized accidental overdose of no less than six prescription drugs including painkillers, sleep aids and anti-anxiety meds is just one of almost 100,000 reported prescription drug-related hospital deaths each year in the U.S.--the fourth leading cause of death, behind heart disease, cancer and stroke. While we "just say no" to street drugs, prescription drugs are killing 10 times as many people, as this excellent article reveals. Dr. Mercola extends the analysis and you'll find his conclusions staggering. more » Mass. launches massive mental health screening program on youth The state of Massachusetts is embarking on a massive annual mental health screening program targeting the state's 460,000 children on Medicaid. State bureaucrats, mental health workers and drug companies all stand to benefit, but what about the children? Fortunately, you can excuse your child from this money-making scam. This article explains why screening children for mental health is a bad idea. more » Lobotomies, then and now Psychiatrist Walter Freeman was famous for performing ice-pick lobotomies on his patients from his "lobotomobile," as portrayed in a recent PBS special "The Lobotomist." After inflicting permanent damage to thousands of people, psychiatrists turned to psychiatric drugs, which were marketed as "chemical lobotomies." Even today, we still hear people in the industry wanting to resurrect the barbaric and inhumane practice of lobotomy. This article summarizes the dark history of lobotomies. more » Doctor refuses to see drug reps or accept gifts Finally--a doctor who has taken a stand against drug company influence. He even has his own web site that opposes accepting freebies from pharma: www.nofreelunch.org. more » "Which God do I obey?" Asks Steve Hayes, Director of the Novus Medical Detox Center in Pasco County, Florida (www.novusdetox.com), in light of the recent FDA findings that almost all antidepressant trial data hidden from FDA and the public showed little to no effectiveness over placebo. It's a question that all doctors will need to ask themselves as they decide which is more important: money or truth? Hurting people who need help or helping hurting people? Hayes and other courageous men who stood up to the drug powers have chosen the God of truth. more » Q&A This reader asks, "How do I handle my controlling, stubborn, selfish husband?" "Make no mistake, there is no such thing as a pharmaceutical drug that can offer true prevention, because synthetic chemicals cannot produce health. They do not belong in your body to begin with, and you should know that your body will always try to protect itself from foreign substances and “invaders,” so how would these chemicals possibly create health?
"I realize that asking you to Take Control of Your Health means battling a massive drug culture that has permeated the very core of American society. But there is no magic pill! You cannot cure your ailments with pharmaceutical drugs." Dr. Joseph Mercola, www.mercola.com
"Perhaps the more troubling question is how do the Eli Lilly scientists and executives who worship the God of profit sleep at night? As they look out the windows of their huge homes acquired with profits from drugs that harm and kill, my guess is not very well." Steve Hayes, Director, Novus Medical Detox Center
