Nowhere is the love of money and resulting evil so obvious than in the world of big pharma, as this month's newsletter attests. Dr. Ann Blake Tracy asks, "After seeing the studies demonstrating no more benefit than a placebo, yet deadly enough to produce brutal homicides, why are these [antidepressant] drugs still on the market? And why on earth are they the most popular medications?! And the biggest question of all . . . AHA: Get heart screening before taking ADHD drugs With increasing numbers of children experiencing sudden cardiac arrest from ADHD drug use--a trend consistent with FDA warnings--the American Heart Association now recommends children get heart screening for pre-existing conditions before taking these drugs. "Stimulant drugs can increase blood pressure and heart rate. For most children, that isn't a problem. But in those with heart conditions, it could make them more vulnerable to sudden cardiac arrest -- an erratic heartbeat that causes the heart to stop pumping blood through the body -- and other heart problems." Dr. Peter Breggin: "Psychiatry Makes War on Bipolar Children" Psychiatrist and psychiatric drug critic Dr. Peter Breggin, considered one of the few voices of scientific truth in a profit-first industry, indicts a Newsweek article for their pro-disease, pro-drug position on bipolar and their justification of putting a young boy on no less than 38 different drug regimens by age 10. Breggin says it's true that bipolar behaviors are more common these days, not because of "miswired brains," but rather because of antidepressant side effects! "The concept that children have bipolar disorder and should be treated with highly toxic adult psychiatric drugs is strictly a drug-company marketing ploy. If it's true that 800,000 children have been diagnosed, it has become an enormously successful marketing strategy with tragic results for children and their families." more » Harvard psychs hide millions in drug money Harvard child psychiatrist Dr. Joseph Biederman, known as the most influential force behind the 40-fold increase in childhood bipolar diagnoses between 1994 and 2003, along with two other associates have been raking in millions from drug companies under the table for their disorder and drug pushing. "Senator Chuck Grassley [IA] has uncovered evidence showing that these renowned Harvard child psychiatrists, recipients of substantial federal grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, failed to disclose at least $3.2 million dollars they had received from drug companies between 2000 and 2007." more » Three major promoters of vaccines funded by drug company money This CBS report documents the millions paid to the American Academy of Pediatrics, Every Child By Two, and Dr. Paul Offit by vaccine drug manufacturers to promote use of vaccines. Offit, who gets Merck drug money and holds a vaccine patent, has declared that babies can tolerate "10,000 vaccines at once." This conflict of interest in part helps explain the explosion of required vaccines--from a dozen two decades ago to 55 today. Newport Beach psychiatrist Dr. Daniel Amen, known for his questionable, highly suspect use of brain scans to explain mental health problems and justify drug prescriptions, is recommending brain scans be performed on presidential candidates to help voters know about any mental problems before electing them to office. Overtly biologically deterministic, he states, "President Clinton's moral lapses and problems with bad judgment and excitement seeking behavior are indicative of problems in the prefrontal cortex." "Although the benefit of antidepressants is non-existent, these drugs have a very long list of serious and very deadly side effects. The most popular antidepressant on the market, Effexor, now has "homicidal ideation" (obsessive/ruminating thoughts of killing and how to kill) listed as a side effect. "Andrea Yates, a nurse, drowned her five children while taking this drug. Then, while Andrea's case was in court a female doctor in Illinois on the same drug, killed one son and severely injured another. In Tennessee another female doctor also on Effexor slit her 7 year old son's throat and then her own. And then it really hit home for Wyeth when one of their own employees, Cassandra Burgess, whose job it was to take adverse reaction reports on Effexor was killed along with her parents and daughter by her husband who was taking Effexor. He then took his own life. So even though she heard the adverse reports daily on Effexor she still missed the signs in her own husband (although they were there if you knew what signs to look for) soon enough to save herself and her family.
