Q&A - How do I know the true cause of my symptoms? And what should I do if the doctors and psychiatrists just want to keep giving me drugs for the rest of my life?

Question:

What can a person do if they have a physical illness that mimics psychiatric symptoms or occult manifestations? How do they know if it is just physical or if they need deliverance? Some of the doctors believe it is physical, the psychiatrists think it is mental, many of the churches think it is demonic.

These illnesses are "Chemical Injury" (Multiple Chemical Intolerance) that causes brain symptoms and physical symptoms, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (with what is called "brain fog" and speech and memory problems.)

What should a person do? How do they know the true cause of their symptoms? And what should they do if the doctors and psychiatrists just want to keep giving them drugs for these for the rest of their lives? I hope you will answer this for me.

Thank you.

Answer:

You ask a very good question, and there is no easy answer, because each person's situation is unique. Nevertheless, generally speaking, we would recommend doing the following, in this order:

1) Detox your body of all drugs. If the psychiatrist or doctors wants to continue drug treatment (and they usually will), then find another doctor.

2) Monitor your lifestyle and keep it healthy (diet, exercise, sleep, stress)

3) Get medical testing from a doctor (medical, not psych) to detect any physical problems via bloodwork, urine analysis, etc.

4) Evaluate your walk with the Lord and your daily spiritual habits (Bible reading, prayer, fellowship, worship, etc.)

5) If you've reached this point and the problem still exists, chances are it is a normal part of life and suffering on this earth, and could even be demonic oppression, which every real Christian experiences. God will carry you through it as you depend solely on Him. His goal of maturity, holiness and sanctification--which frequently involves pain and suffering--will be accomplished in your life.

There is no room for a mental, soul doctor (psychologist/psychiatrist) in the above process, because treatment of the soul belongs to God and God alone, and He is more than able to give us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

We hope these general guidelines help bring light to the specific problems you are experiencing.

All our love in Christ,
