Reader Letter 1/25/09 My daughter has M.S. Recently, her depression deepened with suicidal thoughts and her doctor prescribed Abilify. She is in her sixth week and started developing, muscle weakenss, pain, falling down and walking hunched over. The doctor told her to continue with the medication, but take Benedryl. She lives 3000 miles away from me and i have great concern for her. She also takes, cymbalta, klonopin, topamax and ambien. I am sure this mixture of medication is tearing her up and I don't know what to advise her to do and even if she will listen to me. I was the one who advised her of the side effects of Abilify. Thank you for taking the time and for your help. Our reply: Thank you for contacting us. Your daughter is on an extremely dangerous, potentially lethal psych drug cocktail. Drug companies have no formal test data on what the interactions between two drugs are, much less five. Drug fatalities are more common the more drugs are mixed. Some useful info: Abilify - an antipsychotic medication, known to cause excessive weight gain and type-2 diabetes. Cymbalta - an antidepressant medication, known to cause suicidal and violent behavior. Klonopin - an anti-anxiety/anti-epileptic medication, known to be very addictive and actually increase anxiety. Also can cause suicidal thoughts. Topamax - an anti-anxiety/anti-epileptic medication, known to be very addictive and actually increase anxiety. Also can cause suicidal thoughts. Ambien - a sedative medication, known to be very addictive and cause memory loss. For more info on these drugs, visit http://www.pdrhealth.com/drugs/drugs-index.aspx. We recommend changing doctors, because hers is probably getting money from each of the companies making these drugs. There is absolutely no reason for her to be on this many drugs at one time. If your daughter chooses to withdraw from her meds, see http://www.psychologydebunked.com/drugwithdrawal.htm for help. Hope this helps, Ryan and Lisa Bazler
