Q&A - What is genetic predisposition?

Question:

Can you please send me something on what the psychologist etc. calls genetic predisposition.

Answer:

This term is used to claim that certain psychological disorders run in the family. Proponents claim that if someone in your family had this disorder, you are more likely, or "genetically predisposed," to have it as well. There is no scientific proof - only theories and conjectures - that common disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar, ADHD, etc. have genetic causes.

From the biblical perspective, generational curses are sometimes used to explain reasons behind a Christian exhibiting behaviors psychology would call "mental disorders." See this link from the late Dr. Opal Reddin for a good summary on the biblical view of generational curses: http://www.macgregorministries.org/cult_groups/generationalcurses.html

Hope this helps.
